SPARTANS COME FROM BEHIND

Hamrun Spartans 3 (M.Giusti 45’, H.Garba 56’, 60’)
ST. ANDREWS 1 (J.Farrugia 33’)

Hamrun had two regulars missing from the starting line-up, namely Glenn Azzopardi and Saturday Nanapere who were replaced by central defender Mark Anthony Borg and right back Christian Maldini.

St. Andrews managed to take the lead from a penalty on the 33rd minute after a foul inside the area. From the penalty spot, Joseph Farrugia hit the ball past David Cassar.

Hamrun managed to react before the interval. From a Haruna Garba cross, Massimiliano Giusti’s low first-time effort from the right beat goalkeeper Jake Galea.

On the 56th minute, the Spartans took the lead when Haruna Garba advanced into the area before beating goalkeeper Jake Galea with a lob.

Four minutes later, Haruna Garba increased the lead when he hit home from close range following a cross from the right by Jake Grech.

For the Spartans, this was the second win in four matches which puts them in fifth place.
